Shane, our younger son’s roommmate and friend since the third grade, is shipping out to Iraq today with his company of Marines from Camp Lejune. The plan is this company will return home in March. Shane hopes to have enough money saved by then to buy a car.
Please pray for Shane’s safety and for the safety of the others whose names I do not know. May they come home soon. And while I hate war, I believe in supporting our soldiers with our prayers, letters, cards, e-mail messages, and respect. These soldiers, who are going into harm’s way, are fine young Americans and barely men or women. They are doing what they believe is right for our country and what they think is an opportunity for themselves.

Shane has my support, and I will certainly hold him up in prayer. I admire his dedication to this cause and to his country. I, too, hate war. God help our leaders to do the right thing, to have courage and wisdom.
God bless our troops…God bless America.

Hi Shirley, Thank you for your prayers.
Hi Deborah, Welcome to my blog. You and your husband and the other woman will be in my prayers. Thank you for praying for Shane.
Hi Sarah, Thank you. I agree; we need to pray for the soldiers on both sides. I will be in prayer for your cousin, also.

Shane has my sincere support too. May he keep himself and his buddies safe, may he help protect innocent Iraqi citizens and may he help rebuild Iraq.

I will keep Shane in my prayers. We have a dear woman in our church whose son just returned from Irag. Our church held him in prayer the entire time he was in Irag. His mother testified at service the other night and stated how during the time he was in Irag she was so distraught. He had called her one time and asked for more prayer because there was shelling all around the area in which he worked. It was at that time she was reminded of a message she once heard that contained an illustration about a painting of a small bird sitting in the cleft of a rock singing while a terrible storm with lightning was surrounding the bird. When she recalled that message, she immediately thought, “God has my Alex in the cleft of the rock and that storm is the war.” This thought gave her the encouragement she needed. I pray God keeps Shane and his company in the cleft of the rock with a band of angels surrounding them.
