I first read the “Sad news…Benny Parsons passed away this morning.” from Clance’, a NASCAR fan like I am.  “Benny was a Champion, not only in racing, but in life. From a taxi driver to a NASCAR Cup Champion to a television broadcaster, he was the best at what he did,”  she said.

.

“There will never be another Benny Parsons. Not only did we lose a great NASCAR champion, we lost one of the sweetest men that ever walked the face of the Earth, ” said Darrell Waltrip, “I Never Raced Anyone Like Benny.”  Waltrip, a three-time NASCAR champion himself, raced against Parsons.

.

And I learned almost everything I know about NASCAR by listening to Benny Parsons and Ned Jarrett.    Benny Parsons was so fair.  He pulled for the driver in the lead and one the one just behind equally.   He never spoke ill of anyone.

.

Parsons died from complications following treatment for lung cancer.  We will miss you, Benny.  Rest in peace.
