Helen, life has been hectic and I am trying to get caught up on blog reading but have fallen far behind. I have either been on the road, with my friends who have suffered a tragedy, or dealing with health issues. Continue to pray for me.

You know, I wasn’t raised Baptist, but I’ve been in plenty of Baptist churches since to get a real “feel’ for this.

First, on the quote: Wow. Reminds me of Flannery O’Connor in some respects, and how she would write about the grotesque.

Second, on the poem: Again, wow! Especially love the lines: “bleeds like a cut from a thorn on a rose/ like that arching climber “Paul’s Scarlet,” . Fantastic.
