Apple Butter

Before this week I’d never made apple butter. Actually, I’d never even thought about making apple butter. But the Winston-Salem Journal published a great recipe for apple butter made in a slow cooker. So I tried it.

It’s very simple but takes longer than the recipe says. I cooked mine for over 24 hours.

Now all I need to do is make some nice yeast rolls to eat the apple butter on. I let you know how they turn out.

Bush Just Doesn’t Get it

Well, it seems President Bush is trying to bully Congress into spending more on veteran’s programs. “President Bush said Saturday that Congress’ Democratic leaders should celebrate Veterans Day by finally passing a spending bill covering programs for veterans.” Read rest of article here.

Now let’s see, this is the same man who recently vetoed a bill that would have provided health care for poor American children. So sorting this out, Bush is against abortion - favors the unborn, against providing health care for children - doesn’t care what happens to ‘em after they’re born, for war - doesn’t care much for ‘em when they’re almost grown, but for veteran’s benefits - favors those who make it through war. What a mixed-up man we have in the Oval Ofiice!
