Recently, I’ve been working with Charlotte, NC poet Jessie Carty. Not sure how I met her. Yes, I am, through a comment on Ross White’s blog. Both Jessie and Ross will have poems in upcoming issues of the Dead Mule. (I’m always looking for good poets to publish on the Mule.) And not only will Jessie Carty be published in the Mule, but she also helped me with the editing of one of my own poems. Hope to add another link to this category, if the poem gets accepted.
But back my original thought: I’ll write about my links. Now if you’ve looked at my blogroll (links), you’ll notice I have quite a few. Today I’m going to tell you about “Literary Publications That Publish My Works.”
Recently I divided my literary publications and made a separate category for “Other Literary Publications.” You will notice there are not as many links there as there are under “Literary Publications That Publish My Works.” I got the idea of listing these separately from Jessie.
Every link under “Literary Publications That Publish My Works” will take you to a website of a magazine or newspaper that has published something I have written at least once. I have always felt strongly about giving credit to publications that have helped me in my writing career. This a pretty cut and dry category. Either a publication has included me or it hasn’t. I added Lily to this category as soon as the editor accepted one of my poems.
With a bit of searching you can find my poems on the majority of these sites. However, a few are more complicated. The Chronicle, for example is an African American newspaper in which I wrote an opinion column, “One Step Beyond,” in the 90s. I no longer send them work, but I read the newspaper every week to keep up with what’s important to the black community in Winston-Salem.
Many of the sites have published only one of my poems. Others like Right Hand Pointing have published several. Dale Wisely, editor of RHP, is also the web master for Project Hope To Abolish the Death Penalty and editor of Mercy Seat Press, who published a chapbook of Darrell Grayson’s poems. Dale Wisely have a chapbook of poems in the November issue of the Dead Mule. Sam Rasnake, editor of Blue Fifth Review, has published my poems and had poems in the Mule in April.
There are too many links under this category to name them all in one post. Perhaps I’ll just continue the same subject tomorrow or the next time I feel like blogging about it. In the meantime, you can toodle over and click some link under “Literary Publications That Publish My Works.” See where they go. And if you’re a poet reading this and want to be a part of the loop, just leave a comment. I’m looking for both poets and friends. And if you write prose, comment anyway, and I’ll send you to Val.

BTW, several poets have mentioned that they will be wearing Mule gear. I have T shirts in white and pink and am looking at the sweatshirt, in gray. Oh, and maybe the green one. Anyone can buy them. Wouldn’t this tote bag or this large mug make a great Christmas gift? Ringer shirts, like this one, are cute on skinny people. I’m a former skinny person and would have looked cute in this shirt about thirty-five years ago.
Babies and grandbabies would look cute in this one.
A purchase from the Dead Mule’s CafePress store helps support the Mule and allows Val to stay home and care for her 90 year old mother Ruth.

Now SO many reasons for me to order a Dead Mule shirt. But should I do the wishful buying of the skinny girl shirt on the reality shirt? hmmm..:)
Glad I could help. I love organizing things on my blog. I’m such a nerd!
