Helen – in my other life I would love to be a Nascar racer. If I could, I would hope I had fans as devoted as you.

Hi Jana, My “other life” is the life of a NASCAR fan. It’s fun, and the world’s real problems go away for a bit. Not that I think the drivers have no “real” problems.

I have always thought the petty family were neat people. they seem like real people, like someone you could have a conversation with as you stood in line at food lion. dolly parton has always struck me that way, too.

I think the Pettys are like that. And Dolly Parton. I’ve never met any of them, but we had a church retreat at a Holiday Inn in Rock Hill, SC once. The Inn Keeper was a member of our church. Dolly Parton had been there the night before, and he was so sorry. He said if we’d been there at the same time, she would have come in and sang for us.
