I have two out of five. Darrell Bourque’s “The Blue Boat” and Luis Urrea’s “Ghost Sickness” These are two amazing poets I have had the pleasure of knowing personally. I studied briefly with Luis and know Darrell personally. I never had the fortune of studying with Darrell.

Hi Jessie, Welcome to my blog. I met Christine when she had a reading at Wake Forest. I was inpressed with how musical her voice was as she read. At that time she has only written one book. Jane Mead wrote a blurb for the back of Among the Monarchs. Jane has two books, and it was hard to decide which to pput on the list. I thinl Christine’s thrid book is out or coming out. I haven’t seen it yet.

I am so glad you included Christine Garren. I had an undergrad poetry workshop w/ her at UNC-Greensboro and I love her work I have Jane Mead on my list of poets I want to read. Now if I could just get to it!

I never took a class with Dennis but he helped mewith a couple of poems. Nancy Jewell (on the Mule) studied with him.

I’m familiar with Sampson’s poetry, but not the collection. I like his work a great deal.

I studied two semesters with Jane Mead. And I know Evie, too. Well, I actually know all of these poets. If you aren’t familair with Dennis Sampson, try him, too. He has five books published and a couple more written. It was hard to decide which to put on the list. This is great meme, Sam.
