“A member of my family once said that she did not doubt George W. Bush’s conversion. He is a sincere Christian, she observed, but he is a Christian who has not grown in his faith. He is like a child.
Spoiled children are bullies.”
from Sherry Chandler’s blog I love it when Sherry gets on her soapbox.

Now that is something to think about; and I think Sherry is right.

Poerty Man is right, but I think quite likely Sherry is also. You have to say you are sommthing of at least think it before it becomes true in your own mind. For example, I said I was a poet before I wrote anything very worthwhile. So mmaybe there’s hope for Dubya yet. Sadly, it won’t take effect until he’s no longer president. He’s sure done and continues to do a lot of danage while he’s been in office.

I would agree, Poetry Man, that actions speak louder than conversions and my kinswoman said this thing about Dubya several years ago. Even she may have changed her mind since then. But the example of Dubya is one — admittedly extreme — example of why I’m always very suspicious of “religious” people though I remained committed to a spiritual life.
